I decided to try again using the "install for this user only" option, only to find that screen no longer appears! I had been using the default parameters for loading GE, including "install for all users". This says the files I had in those locations were carried over in the migration process. The plist, Myplaces, and Cache files do not get recreated on the reinstall. I have done this a few times, all with the same result. What I have done so far: I have deleted the Myplaces file, the Cache file, and the plist file, along with the application, and then reinstalled Google Earth from the web. I dont know if this information helps at all but my mac is: I am assuming this is not an issue the programs but an issue with my mac itself as the same error presents itself when download different applications. I found older versions of the origin app and these got to the exact same stage and crash when i am attempting to open them to install. I tried downloading the file via another browser so i switch from safari to chrome and had the extra same error. Once i try to open the app from the taskbar at the bottom it asks if i want to open it i say yes and then it instantly crashes.Īt first i thought this was error with the app so i trashed all the files and tried again as much to my surprise i had the same error. The initial download works fine, pull the download over into the applications folder like i am asked to and this bit also works fine. Urgent!! Whenever i try to install an application it doesn't work? I have previously tried to download Origin and other application from the internet to my macbook air. I sincerely hope it is in the location specified above. Your text will be all black.ĭefaults write CachePath "/Users/username/Library/Library/Caches/Google Earth"Īt this point, I should admit that I don't actually know where your "myplaces.kml" file actually is. Don't worry about the colour, the forums software adds that. I STRONGLY suggest using the "copy" feature to copy the above line instead of trying to re-type it. Quit it, if it is running.ģ) Enter the following command in Terminal:ĭefaults write KMLPath "/Users/username/Library/Application Support/Google Earth"Īnd press enter. Does "username 1" exist too? Hopefully it doesn't.Īssuming "username 1" doesn't exist, here is how to fix it.ġ) Make sure Google Earth Pro is not running. In the Finder, navigate to your "Users" folder. It's Google! So now it's our problem, isn't it?įirst of all, let's see if Google is simply confused or if it has actually done damage to your system. The fact that they dump this stuff on the internet and then forget about it doesn't matter. (For those that don't know, that's a really bad sign.)īut it is Google after all. There is only an Intel version and it is built with Qt. Summaryĭegrees, minutes and seconds: 45 03 45.1N, 01 45 21.5Wĭecimal degrees (compass points): 45.063N, 1.Clearly Google Earth Pro is not functioning correctly. We don’t need to write the plus, so our previous example 45.063N would just be written 45.063, but the longitude of for 01 45 21.5W would be written -1.756 (3 decimal places). For longitude, east is plus, and west is minus. For latitude north is plus and south is minus. With decimal degrees, you can also use + or – to denote north, south, east and west. This is because there are 60 minutes in a degree and 60 seconds in a minute, 3,600 seconds in a degree. To be more accurate you can add decimal point figures to the seconds.Įxample: 45 03 45.1N, 01 45 21.5W Digital degrees (using compass points)ĭigital degrees convert the degrees, minutes and seconds into a single number. Note the gaps between the numbers, the use of N or S for North and South and E and W for East and West, as well as the comma. You can also use latitude and longitude coordinates in a variety of formats.
